Avery Waddington signs letter of intent to play basketball at Montana State University

Avery Waddington, a 6-foot-1 senior at Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, signed a National Basketball Team Letter of Intent with Montana State University on Wednesday.

Waddington is a versatile player who can play multiple positions. She is an outstanding three-point shooter and has proven her ability to play with aggression.

She was named to the Inland Empire Conference 5A League First-Team as a sophomore and junior. As a senior, she contributed 13.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

She maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years.

"From a character standpoint, she's very good," Montana State coach Brian Holsinger said. She comes from a family that fits our culture in every way, she's unselfish, she's a great teammate and does the right thing. That's the kind of person she is, coming from that kind of family. She fits our goals and ideals.

Troy Men's Basketball Class of 2024 begins signing with Campbell Brothers

The Troy men's basketball team opened its doors to the incoming class of 2024 with the signing of brothers Kobe Campbell and Cooper Campbell, Troy men's basketball head coach Scott Cross announced Wednesday afternoon.

"We are very excited about the Campbell brothers signing," Cross said." Cooper and Campbell are very similar in almost every way. They are both guards and can both shoot the ball. They are both great passers and can create open shots for themselves." Teammates.

Cobi Campbell, a Piarapu, Washington native and JUCO transfer, had an impressive 2022-23 season at North Idaho College. He played in 20 games, including 19 starts, and averaged 16.9 points on 54.3 percent shooting from the field and 52.4 percent from three-point range.

He scored in double figures 17 times last season and scored a career-high 41 points against Dinkytown on Dec. 8, going 7-of-11 from the three-point line.

He was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches NWAC All-America Team.

Cooper Campbell, also a native of Piarp, Washington, played for Elite Prep during the 2020-22 season and now plays for Phoenix Prep. He is a sharpshooter, contributing 20 points per game and shooting 42 percent from three-point range. He also averaged six assists per game.

Last summer, he was named to the ACC Best Eleven second team.

Boise State Broncos Sign Women's Basketball Player

The Boise State Broncos signed women's basketball players including Teryn Gardner from Mead High School, who was named Greater Spokane Area Conference MVP last season and led the Panthers to a third-place finish in the Washington State Tournament.

The 5-foot-9 point guard contributed 25.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game as a senior and was named to the ScorebookLive Washington State All-Region and First-Team All-State for the 2022-23 season. She surpassed the 1,000-point mark in just three seasons, including a shortened season with Covidien in which the Panthers played just 12 games.

Gardner is also a versatile athlete, earning all-conference honors in both soccer and track and field. Gardner, who has been the Panthers' top scorer for the past three seasons, scored the decisive goal at the Region 8 3A Championships on Nov. 2 and will be competing at the state tournament this Friday. In addition, his 4x400 relay team won the state championship in the spring.

Julian Bowie signs letter of intent to play basketball at Boise State University

Boys basketball coach Leon Rice has hired Julian Bowie, a 6-foot-4 point guard from Pocatello High School.

Bowie led Pocatello High School to a runner-up finish in the state tournament last March and was the No. 90-ranked recruit in the country, according to Lindy's Sports.

The point guard's success in the clutch was evident in the state 4A tournament this past March, where he set a 4A tournament record with 89 points and was named tournament MVP, and where he hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds left in overtime of the state semifinals to help his team return to the championship game!
