Grizzlies Blast Lakers with 3-Point Rain, Spark Hope in Slump

The Memphis Grizzlies picked up their second win of the season, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 127-113 on Friday night. The Grizzlies made 23 three-pointers in the game, setting a record for most three-pointers made in a single game this season.

The Memphis Grizzlies hit a season-high 23 three-pointers and shot a league-low 23 percent from the field in a 127-113 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. Marcus Smart hit eight 3-pointers and scored 29 points, while Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 29 points.

Despite 32 points from LeBron James and 31 from Anthony Davis, the Lakers couldn't stop the Grizzlies' long-distance shooting spree and lost for the 10th time in 13 games. The Memphis Grizzlies shot well from the field and combined with 19 Los Angeles Lakers turnovers in the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies took a 33-19 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The win was a much-needed lifeline for the Grizzlies, ending their two-game losing streak and providing a glimmer of hope for coach Darvin Hamm, who faced questions about his job security before the game.

"It's a disappointing loss," Ham said, "but we can't get discouraged. We have to fight. We'll work this thing out."

In other games, the league's powerhouse teams bounced back: Boston and Minnesota won, and the Orlando Magic's Paul Bancero put his name in the history books by posting his first career triple-double and scoring the game-winning free throw against the Denver Nuggets.

The Golden State Warriors avoided another late-game collapse by beating the Detroit Pistons 113-109 thanks to a key fourth-quarter performance by Stephen Curry.
